Good ol' Drama

Good ol' drama. What would life be without stupid drama. Drama at work when a customer expects miracles, drama at home when family members can't see eye to eye, drama while driving on I-95 and some crack monkey cuts you off and even drama on internet forums. All of it pointless and every single tiny fragment of it is utterly stupid.
At first, I wanted to write up a very irate post blatantly stating my position and thoughts on all the recent nonsense. But it's not worth the text.
I felt the urge to reply to corn ball PM's with colorful language expressing my displeasure at certain individual's actions. But it's not worth my time.
Instead, I just want to post some things to remind people of how things are. No point in posting anything about the earlier drama, because at this point it's like trying to squeeze blood from a rock or beating a dead horse. I've laid out ban's, and will inevitably lay out plenty more in the coming years. It's not hard to open two browsers and copy and paste addresses and IP's into the ban list. It's not hard to reverse engineer said addresses to see where and who they come from. It's definitely not hard to wonder what kind of painfully drab life some of these offenders must have if they're spending hours trying to pollute the place. Ultimately life goes on.

Be respectful to your peers. They can teach you new things about the world. They can help you out when times are down. They can have a totally hot sister. They may be able to pull strings at work. More to the point, they can help make your life better in a multitude of ways.
We all have bad days or unbelievably stupid moments. We may accidentally pick the worst possible words to get our point across or forget the microphone is turned on when we mutter a curse word. We might even decide that a Box Jellyfish would make a comfortable swimming pool accessory for the kids.
Stop and think twice before doing something that may be questionable is the point of all that. What may seem like a cute and harmless gesture can sometimes come back to bite you in the bottom if you don't.

Words can be used as weapons too. Many politicians and individuals have found this out the hard way by saying something totally inappropriate and having it haunt them years later. It's wise to note that “Freedom of Speech” (Freedom of Expression), is not quite what it sounds like. Freedom of Speech does not give you the right to say whatever you want whenever you want. Things like defamation, invasion of privacy, threatening and many other situations will still get you in hot water that FoS/FoE will not help you out of. You don't expect to see customer service representatives dropping F-Bombs at their businesses clients and keeping their jobs. You don't see students cursing out their teachers and staying in class very long. You won't see homeowners taking crap in their homes. You won't be happy with the results of telling a judge that you will “F'ing kill you!”
To that extent, I won't have anything being said in my forum that I deem inappropriate. For example: If I say, “Don't ever say the word 'Pizza' on my forum”. You may have this swelling urge to say 'Pizza'. You may even make a post saying “I love Pizza!” in giant flashing letters. Following that, I would have every right to throw you out face first because I said don't say 'Pizza' in my place.

You may think you are anonymous on the world wide web, but you are not. There are such things as Computer Crimes & Intellectual Property departments out there and virtually ALL developed nations have them. Things like harassment via Ims/Forums/Blogs can lead to real world trouble. Trying to steal users passwords and identity theft can lead to real world trouble. It's just not worth doing these things. Considering the impact computers have on just about every job out there these days, this is not the kind of thing you want attached to your personal record. Let alone for some stupid reason like kindergarten type revenge.

Last things I can think of at the moment would be use common sense and that you reap what you sow.
As the website www.darwinawards.com/ demonstrates, people can do some pretty stupid stuff. Amazingly stupid. I've talked to people at work who can't comprehend that a power outage means no TV or internet, sad but very true.
If you set out to crash your car into a brick wall, and low and behold, crash your car into a brick wall. Don't act surprised that you crashed your car into a brick wall. Sure, you may regret it later, but you still shouldn't be surprised by it.
