Welcome back ^_~
Not much new aside from the game and real life getting back in the way of updates since I don't have vacation time like in december.
No idea about any security check aside from the built in proboards one.

Over the course of compiling the specifics of each girls abilities I ran across a few things I think should be more tweaked for the better.
- A lil longer pause between Jazz's Happy Ring being redeployed. - Cyan's Tier 3 combo's seem to ignore guarding foes when it's not totally supposed too >.> And probably wouldn't hurt to give her special a lot more priority area wise. - Kz10's grenades I think I'm going to have do more damage to guarding foes.
By the end of my next weekend here I should have the next revision or two done as well as some more comics.

How are you supposed to load the game. I press the load button next to the saved file, but nothing happens

As long as the save file info is correct and not corrupted you would just click load. If the save file's data is corrupted and not correct then you can't load it. Unfortunately only thing that I can think of is to re-save over the bad file so it'll write it correctly

Same here. I get all the way to czarina in one go, leave, come back later, and, nope, not loading. (five commas in one sentence! Woooo! XD)
Then I tried Tami. I used the same save file. Still wouldn't load. Annoyed, I clicked on the button a lot. must have accidentally pushed the one below it which was a kz12 file. reloaded the page. my tami save file changed into a kz12 file! still wouldn't load. wierdness.

I've only been able to get it to do that on one computer, and then only for save game slot 1. Loading a different girls game, reseting, then loading game 1 seemed to work in that particular instance. Gonna be a long one to figure that out if it's a code prob vs a save/load file prob.
Updates 3/13 3:51pm ======================
- Cyan's Tier 3 combo's now do only 1 point of damage per frame to guarding foes instead of full. Her special has had it's area effect around her increased. - Jazz's happy ring share's the timer with her shots (though it'll prolly get increased a smidgeon more still). - Kz10's grenades have had their damage increased by 1 against normal and guarding foes. - Bonus Stages can now be unlocked (The stages still aren't done, but you can unlock them). Each girl can unlock 3 stages, and you MUST save to have them recorded. Only had time to play test a few of them so let me know if anything seems screwy. - For playtesters, I added code that resets the boss clear state when you use a hotkey to skip to them.
Think that's about it >.>
If anyone was wondering why I hid bonus stages in the normal stages instead of pictures like originally planned, it's because I can add as mant new pictures to a gallery as I want without worrying about hiding a icon in the limited spots I have in the normal stages. Laziness FTW!

Are you SURE they're unlockable? Because I just played through Roll's and Shin's levels as Tami, since both have nooks that I thought were quite obviously going to be where the secrets are (obvious as in "If you've already found it, it's obvious there should be an item there"), then Shin's as KZ (in case it was different for each girl, she has no abilities that would allow her to find something really, really out of the way) and there were none.
For that matter, are each girl's in seperate places? Levels? Are they all in the starting six levels?

By the way..... How do you unlock galleries? I've beaten the game 3 times, and I don't have a single gallery.
And, yeah, the save bug only happened on one computer for me too. wierd.

- Yeah, they're in there. Hunted out the first three and all were working before I uploaded. With more time I'll verify the others. They look like swirling portals about the size of each girl. The hiding places are different for each girl and only in the starting 6 stages.
For the most part, only the character's with sucky dash abilities movement wise will have the obvious locations. Poor Tami really has to work to find'm since she has such great range.
- You unlock galleries by simply beating the game on normal (cept' Gallery 10). At the moment it records whether or not it's beaten, but the actual gallery display isn't updated yet so there's no real reflection of it.
Update Edit ========== Finished playtesting all the bonus stages. 3 of the 18 were bugged and are fixed now (2 of Jazz's and 1 of Cyan's).
One thing that was changed that I forgot earlier was that if you have a bonus character unlocked, then the normal girls can also have their crusher. If you start a game as a bonus character, the final stages should no longer be unlocked from the get-go. So now the girls can collect all 9 crushers.

Yeah, have tested it enough to see there's definitely a problem with save slot #1. Don't know what it is, so gonna take some brain bashing to figure it out.
Edit ====================================== Have Kz10 and Shin's crushers in place. Prolly gonna end up removing the security check for slot #1 if I can't figure out the bug by the time I update the game. Also gonna start building up some of the bonus stages next too.

The bosses thing is kinda a toss up at the moment. Mainly due to filesize.

Couldn't you have two versions, one with and one without bonus levels? Hell, for all I know you could have the main game and a seperate file with just the bonus levels and extras capable of sharing the save files. That'd be pretty cool, and ensure you never have to worry about filesize again.

The version that'll be uploaded to newgrounds won't have the bonus stuff and should easily make it under 10mb's.
The difficulty should range from cakewalk (Volley bear & Blazing Beat) to stupid hard (KCF & Gamma Next)
I know it's possible to have the game load external files like Ira does a lot these days, but I haven't taken the time to sit down and learn it (Wade = Slacker). Not sure the impact it'd have on bandwidth usage too since I only got 75gb a month on my current host.

Update 4/11 2:58pm ========================= - Save slot #1 should be fixed - Shin/Kz10's crusher animations in place - Frogger, Minifrog, Hermitcrab, Lantern, Shrimp and Jelly enemies added to Bubbleman's stage. - Batbat, Bunny and Chicken added to Woodman's. - Skeleton added to Castlevania's. - You can see who your opponent in Volleybear is now. - Guilty Gear stage is going in the middle slot of Pg2. Scenery stage is gonna be replaced with something else once it strikes me. For playtesters who aren't having any luck finding the hidden stages, you can press the playtest code on the stage select screen to unlock them all. This isn't undoable at the moment though. v1.0 of Brickman's guide is at www.maelstormm.com/Games/RollNext/RicksAdventure_RN_guide.htmlAnd here's some screenies:

Blargh.... still hammering out new level layouts and baddies. Next update around the corner should have Woodman, Snakeman, Bubbleman and Castlevania stages up and running (Minus Bosses since I'm not sure if I can squeeze them in). The scoring feature for them won't be turned on until playtesting is done on them.
Thinking about rearranging a few of the 8 bit stages to make'm a bit prettier like scrolling backgrounds and foreground objects. Time will tell.
Edit================================== Next lil' change is I'm gonna hybrid Snakeman & Needleman's stages for more fun.

What? That doesn't make any sense or seem necessary and sounds like a huge waste of time--skip the overworld maps and random encounters and just do whatever the meat of those bonus stages is.

That is the meat of the bonus stage >.> Plus it's a learning experience for BoFZ and NextRPG.
Unlike the regular type stages, you'll get to wander around Narshe's caves (pre-FF6 invasion) grinding critters for $ and randomly placed treasure chests with items or $ in them. Then just leave Narshe when you're done and want to go back to the normal game. Haven't figured out the aspect for the FF4 zones yet.
Oh yeah, and SM is a meanie for picking Front Mission Gunhazard as a bonus stage. I've been bustin my rear trying to get rips of sceens and baddies to populate that place /cry.

If you'd like, I can help you a bit in that endeavour, if you'll name the stage(s) covered and what enemies are needed. If there's one thing about Gunhazard, the enemies have way too many frames of animation. Too much mechanical work. So, it's understandable the pain.
